Orion Participates in a WSDOT Video Shoot!

Orion Industries participated in a video shoot  for the Washington State Department of Transportation. The video is to support the WA State Freight Plan, showing how gridlock effects business and the economy and hopes to improve transportation.

WSDOT is partnering with several local companies to create the video. Tom Brosius, Orion's Vice President and General Manager, and Liz Hickman, Orion's Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, were interviewed for the WSDOT video. Both gave great examples of how traffic congestion effects Orion who is a Just In Time supplier to Boeing.

Once completed the full video will be posted to our web site and Facebook page.

Be sure to check out the link below to a great infographic created by PRR. A short teaser version of the video can be found at the bottom.

Josh would like to find a position with an area employer that will use his strong computer skills, customer service skills and the new skills he has gained at Orion

Prior to joining Orion, Josh worked as a part time courtesy clerk for one of the local grocery chains for 4 years. Although that was a good position for Josh while he was in school, he is now seeking a full time position. Josh has been a participant in our Manufacturing Training Program since January 2014. While at Orion Josh received training in shipping, component assembly and machine operation. Josh also just finished our forklift training and he is looking forward to sharing his new skills with his future employer.

Josh has really impressed everyone at Orion and received the production worker of the month award for May 2014.

If you are interested in learning more about Josh and his skills please feel free to contact Laura Fogle by phone at 253-661-7805 ext. 290 or via email at laura.fogle@orionquality.com.

David

David came to Orion Industries through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation to gain more experience in production manufacturing and tooling.

David was out of work for a time and was having difficulty finding a job. He liked going through Orion's training program because he learned new skills and Orion helped with job placement.

Since graduating from Orion's manufacturing training program In December of 2013 David has been employed at Rainier Industries. David is a Powder Coat Prepper. David sands down parts and cleans them with an acetone solution. Once the parts are cleaned and prepped he hangs the parts on racks and gets them ready for the painters.

When David was asked if he had any advice for others going through Orion's training program he thought about it for a minute and then offered these words of encouragement, "Stay positive, because it will happen."
