Russell, Orion Manufacturing Training Program Graduate.

Russell

Russell's background was in construction and warehouse work. He had no manufacturing or machine shop experience when he started in the Orion manufacturing training program.

Russell learned how to set up CNC machines, and took shop math and blueprint reading classes. He gained experience in mechanical assembly and fabrication while working with Orion instructors, mentors and vocational counselors.

After Russell completed the manufacturing training program at Orion he was placed with Imaginetics, where he now works in mechanical assembly. His daily activities include part fabrication and putting together airplane part assemblies.

The work that Russell is doing at Imaginetics is similar to the work he was doing when he received training at Orion. "In assembly we build similar parts," Russell said. The training he received at Orion and the work he does in his current job have the same types of specifications and tolerances. "Everything is pretty much for Boeing," Russell explained.

"The thing about Orion is that the training, the instructors and the job development was really helpful, and the job search was valuable as well," Russell said.
